Superintendent's Message

September 28, 2017

Recently I met with the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council to share information about upcoming events and host a question and answer session.  The students representing our middle schools and high schools are a bright, articulate, involved group of young people who do a great job of representing their peers. I look forward to meeting with them again for several sessions during the school year.

October is National Principals Month recognition.  We appreciate our instructional leaders for their vision and passion to provide a quality education for every student. Our campus leaders make positive impacts on students, staff and the community.

Governor Greg Abbott has declared October 10 to be Texas Education Human Resources Day. Our team has a daily positive impact on our students and staff. Under the leadership of Diane TUDYK, this department hires only highly effective teachers, and works to provide excellent benefits and career advantages for all of our employees.

National School Lunch Week is recognized Oct. 9-13.  Our Child Nutrition Department is led by Mr. Marcos Rodriguez.  Thanks to our Child Nutrition staff’s commitment to nutrition, our students and employees enjoy healthy, well-balanced meals every day.

America’s Safe Schools Week will be observed Oct. 15-21.  Campus safety is an important factor in our students’ education as everyone works together to ensure our campuses are secure and only authorized visitors are permitted on campus.

Oct. 15 through 21 has been designated National School Bus Safety Week.  Led by Mr. Christopher Ramirez, our bus drivers and aides assure that students arrive safely to school and then back home. All of our highly qualified Transportation staff is vigilant about promptly and safely “Delivering the Future.”

Monday, October 9 is a student holiday and a staff development day. The second six-week period begins on October 10.
