Superintendent's Message

April 10, 2019

Please join us on Saturday, April 13 for the 43rd annual Harlandale ISD Cultural Arts Parade and Festival. Mission San Jose is the site where the Descendants Ceremony will be held, followed by a parade featuring students, employees, organizations and community members. Arriving at the Harlandale Memorial Stadium, the fair will provide student entertainment, artwork, family activities, and plenty of food and fun. For more information, please contact the Harlandale ISD Communications Office at 210-989-4355.

We are delighted to congratulate Dr. Traci Smith, principal at Stonewall Flanders Elementary, for being one of five state finalists for the 2019 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards.  Last year, McCollum High School Prinicipal Jacob Garcia was honored for the same recognition.  Having two of our campus principals nominated for this prestigious award is a reflection of the quality personnel who serve our students daily.

The 2018-2019 school year is rapidly drawing to a close. Proms and award ceremonies will soon be filling the calendar.  The final semester begins April 22. The district will observe Good Friday holiday on April 19.  We will be closed in observance of the Battle of Flowers holiday on Friday, April 26.

We applaud our students for their dedication to completing and furthering their education.  Frank Tejeda Academy graduation is scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 3, followed by graduates from the STEM Early College High School at 6 p.m. Both of those ceremonies will be held at the Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium.  The McCollum High School graduation will be held on June 11, and the Harlandale High School graduation will be on June 12. Both of those ceremonies will be conducted at the Freeman Coliseum starting at 7 p.m.
