Adams ES students join nationwide online art gallery

Children across the country were encouraged to create art in celebration of Everyartist Live this week. The nationwide event aims to spark creativity in young minds.

Adams ES students joined in on the fun by creating art work for the Everyartist Live online gallery.

“What is really cool is that you can upload to this gallery all year long and it can serve as a portfolio for our students,” Ortega said.

Her second grade students created monoprints for their gallery. A monoprint is essentially a printed painting.

After a brief demonstration by Ms. Ortega, the students painted pumpkins, hearts and purple cats on a Styrofoam canvas. Once their painting was complete, they gently pressed a white sheet of paper over their painting. When they peeled back the pressed paper, their masterpiece was complete.

“It came out exactly how I wanted it to!” second grade student Cecilia Rios exclaimed.

It was her first time trying this technique and she can’t wait to try it again.

Ms. Ortega went around taking photos with an iPad of all the art works and uploaded the photos to the online gallery. To view the gallery, visit
