Give More HUGS donates books to Carroll Bell Elementary

In an effort to inspire students to develop a lifelong love for reading, international nonprofit organization Give More HUGS (Helping, Unite, Giving, Souls) donated free books to Carroll Bell Elementary on Dec. 4.

As every student walked into the library, they couldn’t contain their excitement and immediately began searching for their favorite book.

Tiffany Baltierra, a Give More HUGS student ambassador, was present to personally hand out the books to the students.

“Give More HUGS believes a passion for books and reading can be developed at an early age, so every student will receive a free book today,” she said.

However, the big surprise occurred when students discovered that inside every book there was a handwritten inspirational message written just for them.

“I think it’s important to inspire our kids because they are our future,” Baltierra added. “All the books are either brand new or gently used and contain personalized quotes from the people who donated them.”

The children were excited to read all the messages, which included: “Keep on reading books, it makes your imagination grow bigger,” “I love this book and so will you,” and “Never give up on your dreams!”

Give More HUGS donated more than 300 books, as well as composition books, binders, scissors and backpacks for teachers to use in their classrooms.

“Our mission is to really help unite people by giving back to the community, and it’s really awesome how little things like this can really help impact the lives of students who need it the most,” Baltierra concluded.
