Carroll Bell Elementary hosts Career Day and College Fair

Carroll Bell Elementary students explored different options for their future at the school’s annual Career Day and College Fair on Feb.28.

Representatives from local colleges as well as career professionals filled the campus to educate and expose the youngsters on different paths available for them.

“It’s a great experience for the kids to learn about the different careers that are out there and what educational background it takes for them to get in those careers,” Carroll Bell Counselor Kimberly Salinas said.

Salinas organizes the special event every year and this is her largest one yet.

Guests included the FBI, San Antonio Fire Department, San Antonio Police Department, San Antonio Air Life, CSI, Homeland Security, doctors, a chiropractor, chefs, a baker, a financial advisor, and an entrepreneur among others.

“This is a huge event to expose our students to college and career readiness in elementary,” Salinas added. “We like to start them young, to put that thought in going to school in their minds now, so that they will want to go to college.”

The speakers and representatives encouraged students to continue their education and to chase their dreams. The students were left feeling inspired for what their bright future holds.
