Kindergarten, first and second grade students at Gilbert Elementary recently enjoyed a fun College Bound Pep Rally.

The event is part of the school’s College Bound Program, which promotes college opportunities to all students on campus.

Gilbert Elementary Social Worker Jennifer Montes organized the pep rally and invited members of the University of the Incarnate Word Football Team and Cheer Team.

“The college students talked about what they are studying and gave positive messages to our students about staying in school and working hard,” Montes said.

The young students proudly sported their college T-shirts and participated in a variety of games with the college athletes including musical dots, beanbag toss, human bowling and a dance off!

Montes hopes the event helps students begin to dream and think about their futures.

“We encourage all of our students to dream BIG! We believe our students have the opportunity to do great things and that hard work will help them achieve their dreams,” Montes concluded.

Way to go, Mustangs!
