Superintendent's Message

April 19, 2018

It seems like only yesterday we were welcoming students to classes and now we find ourselves in the final six-weeks of the 2017-2018 school year.  Many of our students will participate in the Battle of Flowers parade, which is a school holiday on April 27.

During the month of May, we will celebrate Teachers Week, Public School Paraprofessional Day, Child Nutrition Week, Nurses Appreciation and National Police Week.  We are grateful to all of these employees for the contributions they make to our students’ education and well-being every day.

The 52nd Annual Chuck Boggess Harlandale ISD Golf Tournament will take place at the Republic Golf Course on June 2. All of the tournament proceeds go to provide scholarships to Harlandale ISD graduating seniors. For more information or to sign up, visit www.BoggessGolfTournament.com or call (210) 414-9753.

Families interested in enrolling their children in Dual Language Kindergarten can register now.  Harlandale ISD is the only district in San Antonio to offer the program at all of its elementary schools, showing our commitment to preparing students for a global economy.  Recent studies show being bilingual can increase cognitive skills and can delay or even prevent dementia or Alzheimer’s.  To register or ask questions, please visit your home campus or call 210-989-4361.

STEM Early College HS is now accepting applications from incoming freshmen (current eighth grade students) interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of college credit and an associate's degree before they even graduate high school. For more information, please visit www.Harlandale.net.

We appreciate the Harlandale community for making this year’s Cultural Arts Parade and Festival a great success.
