Harlandale High School senior Valeria Juarez-Trujillo will go on to play college soccer at Northeast Texas Community College.

The talented athlete officially signed her letter of intent on April 30 in the Student Union surrounded by her family, coaches, administrators, teammates and friends.

“We’re really proud of Valeria,” Head Soccer Coach Sonia Marin said. “She’s a hard worker, a leader, and never gives up. I know she’s going to be successful, so we’re excited for her.”

Valeria started off in JV bench her first year and became varsity captain her junior year. She credits her family and coaches for motivating her to be the best player she can be.

“My mom and every coach I’ve had have motivated me in a way I can’t even describe,” she said. “I’ve worked really hard for it, so I’m very excited to continue to play.”

Valeria began to play soccer in middle school and instantly fell in love with the sport. During her career at Harlandale HS, Valeria played different positions including center and defense. Her team also won the District Championship during her sophomore and junior year.

She hopes to continue to grow as a player in college, where she will also study food science. Her goal is to become a nutritionist.

Congratulations, Valeria!
