The Harlandale Independent School District Board of Trustees selected new officers at its June 21 meeting.   Anthony Alcoser was named President, Zeke Mendoza was named Vice President and Jesse “Jay” Alaniz will serve as Secretary.  Additional trustees include David Abundis, Joshua J. Cerna, Daniel Herrera and Tomas Uresti. 

“Entering the 2010 – 2011 school year with a healthy general fund balance and all schools either exemplary or recognized, it’s an honor to serve as school board President in what truly is 14 square miles of excellence,” said Anthony Alcoser, newly appointed Board President.  Alcoser says one of his main goals is to raise SAT scores and focus on college preparation.  Alcoser is the youngest member to be elected to the HISD board at age 24 and the youngest ever to serve as board president at the age of 28.
