Bellaire Elementary transformed into a galaxy far, far away to host a space-themed STEM Night on Nov. 8.

“With out of this world activities, students learned the connection between science, technology, engineering, mathematics and everyday learning,” HISD Gifted and Talented Teacher Silvia Juarez-Trujillo said.

The night featured a variety of stations from SeaWorld, Laser Quest, San Antonio Pubic Library, BiblioTech and many more.

“The students enjoyed many activities that seemed like play, but they were actually learning,” Ms. Juarez-Trujillo added.

Students and their parents had a great time discovering more about coding, moon rocks and how to make astronaut pudding.

The fun continued as the kids received a visit from their favorite Star Wars characters Han Solo, Stormtrooper and Kylo Ren, who watched as the kids created Star Wars shadow puppets and trained how to become a Jedi.

The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) traveling Trailblazer museum was also present, offering kids a one-of-a-kind experience.

“TAME’s traveling Trailblazer is a science museum-on-wheels offering exciting hands-on exhibits that teach students about energy, space, weather, biotechnology and aerodynamics,” Ms. Juarez-Trujillo added.

Overall, the night was a success and students left with big smiles on their faces as they enjoyed another night full of learning.
