Cisco College signs Harlandale HS student

The Student Union was filled with friends, family, coaches and administrators while Harlandale HS senior Tiara Gomez signed her letter of intent to play softball for Cisco College on Dec. 14.

Tiara’s face filled with joy as her softball coaches from her past, present and future said kind words about not only what a great player she is, but what a wonderful young woman she has become.

Harlandale HS Head Softball Coach Shelbey Veselka has had two of her senior players receive softball scholarships this week and she couldn’t be more proud!

“Both my seniors have worked extremely hard for this and deserve this amazing opportunity,” Veselka said. “This is so great for the Harlandale softball program and I hope that some of the younger athletes are inspired and have the same passion that Tiara and Nadia both have for softball.”

Tiara is not only a remarkable student athlete who has been on varsity since her freshman year, but she is also a model student in the classroom. She has been on the A/B honor roll for the first two six weeks and is extremely involved outside of softball. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, KSHAC (Kids' School Health Advisory Council), PAWS (Protect Animals within San Antonio), BPA (Business Professionals of America), and she is also a member of the Harlandale Golf Team.

“Attending college is just another milestone in Tiara’s life with many more to come even after Cisco,” exclaimed Veselka. “She knows that she is going to have to work hard for everything, but she knows she has a great community rooting for her back home!”

Congratulations Tiara and good luck on this awesome journey!
