Columbia Heights celebrates third annual Fall Art Exhibit

Young artists showcased their creative talents to parents and teachers at the third annual Columbia Heights Elementary Fall Art Exhibit on Dec. 14.

Several students expressed their creativity through live performances while other proudly pointed out their art pieces in a gallery. Visual artwork featured included pen on paper drawings of Hispanic American icons, as well as mixed media drawings and molds of festive sugar skulls.

The event also featured an interactive activity where parents and students could sit and draw on a table.

“It’s important for the parents to see the creative process and that they can see how they render things,” Columbia Heights Art Teacher Noe Garza added.

More than 150 parents showed up to support the students and to experience all of the different kinds of art.

“The Fall Art Exhibit is a great way to highlight our students’ hard work,” Garza added. “We have been working hard all year, I’ve been exposing the students to different kinds of media, so it’s been a very intense year and it’s only going to get more intense.”

Way to go, Columbia Heights!
