District Family Night celebrates learning with fun activities

2019 HISD District Family Night

Harlandale ISD families enjoyed an evening full of engaging and hands-on activities during the District Family Night held at Harlandale High School on March 27.

The “Sun, Sand and Sea” theme was alive at every station featuring innovative activities related to language arts, science, mathematics, social studies, technology, literacy and more!

Students learned how to create summer paper hats, played instruments using fruits, created fun shapes with sand, made colorful slime, played with robots and wrote poetry.

Families also had the opportunity to take fun summer photos using a green screen and enjoyed a wonderful performance by the Schulze Elementary Choir.

Harlandale ISD Parent and Adult Education Coordinator Ruth Zambrano was happy to see the great turnout and seeing all the families engaged.

“Every year, we see more and more families attending our District Family Nights, which is great,” Zambrano said. “All of our C & I Departments are here tonight keeping our parents and students engaged with fun activities. They are unleashing their creativity tonight.”

Zambrano hopes the event continues to grow in the future.

“I want to thank all the parents for bringing their children to the event, and I hope they continue to do so in the future because it is only going to get bigger and better,” Zambrano concluded.

The event also offered Zumba and yoga classes during the event to remind families the importance of health and fitness. At the end of the night, families received free snow cones, hot dogs and fun raffle prizes.
