Farmyard Petting Zoo visits Schulze Elementary

Harlandale ISD Pre-K 4 students enjoyed another adorable and enriching on-site field trip this week.

The Farmyard Fun & Educational Petting Zoo visited Schulze Elementary School Monday morning, where students had the opportunity to interact with 12 different animals, including a bull, a llama, a sheep, a goat, a pot-belly pig, a rabbit and a gander.

The children enjoyed feeding and petting all the animals, and even had the opportunity to brush and ride the miniature horses.

Along with getting a hands-on encounter with the animals, students also learned interesting facts about their appearance and behavior.

“The kids loved the horses and have enjoyed the experience,” Schulze Elementary teacher Hilary Ruiz said. “Last week, we had our farm unit, so it makes a good connection for them. The fact that they were able to see and touch the animals – that’s the best part.”
