Frank Tejeda Academy and Goodwill Careers Academy came together to celebrate a total of six students who successfully completed the first Certified Nurse Assistant (CAN) Cohort on Jan. 17.

Serenity Alvarado, Julie Carranza, Destiny Delgado, Karla Garcia, Isabella Tucker and Martha Zavala proudly accepted their certificates of completion during a special ceremony at the school’s media center.

“We are so proud of our very first group of CNA students,” Frank Tejeda Academy Assistant Principal Ruben Garcia said. “These girls were the first to say yes it is possible, you can do it and you can move forward.”

Nurse Aide Instructor Ida Jackson spoke highly about the students and congratulated them on a job well done.

“When they first came to the class they didn’t know what to expect, but now they are brighter, stronger and ready to face more challenges.” Jackson said. “Today is not the end, but it’s the beginning to move forward on to greater things.”

Nursing Aide student Isabella Tucker thanked Jackson for giving her the courage to pass the program.

“I enjoyed coming to every class and learning about how to become a CNA, and now that I am one, I am very grateful,” Tucker said.

Congratulations to all six students! A total of 11 students are registered for the new semester which will begin next Tuesday.

“We look forward to our partnership growing stronger,” Garcia said.
