First and second grade Gifted and Talented (GT) students recently visited the Microsoft Store at the Shops at La Cantera.

Students were immersed in technology upon entering the store. Students created their own 3-D emoji’s and learned coding using a Harry Potter Wand. Students also explored the store and had the opportunity to play with various devices that were on display.

“This field trip fit in perfectly with what we are studying in class,” GT Teacher Kimberly Chason said. “Visiting the Microsoft Store provided an opportunity for students to see how computer science is important in many parts of their lives.”

The students enjoyed the fun learning experience since they are learning about computer science in their GT classes. Students learned how to design a simple digital animated story on a tablet during the fall semester. They are currently exploring math by creating a game on a tablet.
