Proud parents, grandparents, teachers and administrators attended Gilbert Elementary’s Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony to celebrate the future Class of 2025 on June 7.

The ceremony was hosted by Social Worker Jennifer Montes and featured Vice President of Palo Alto College Carlos Cruz, a former Gilbert Mustang, as the guest speaker. Both delivered powerful words of encouragement and wished students the best of luck in their future.

“I always try to make sure the students know that they are important, and that they have value in everything they do,” Montes said. “Also, help them understand that they have the potential to do anything no matter what their background is, no matter where they came from, they can make a difference in the world.”

Montes then presented all 72 fifth-grade students with certificates and medals of excellence to commemorate their official promotion to sixth grade.

Following the ceremony, the students made their way to a special reception, where they celebrated with their loved ones and enjoyed delicious cake and punch.

Congratulations, mustangs!
