Harlandale High School’s CTE Department hosted a College and Career Fair on Dec. 13.

The event welcomed students in grades 8-12 and their families to explore the multitude of career and college pathways available to them.

Different Harlandale ISD programs such as Cowboy Productions, Culinary Arts, Theatre Arts, Athletics, Cosmetology, Law Enforcement, Phlebotomy, Hospitality and Tourism, Medical Technology and many more were present to highlight their programs.

Harlandale HS Counselor Graciela Gil organized the event to help students define their career goals and discover new opportunities for their future.

“Students sometimes may not have that direction as far as which path they want to pursue,” Gil said. “We want to expose our students to all the different programs of studies available to them so they can be prepared for then they begin their journey into high school or college.”

The fair also allowed students and parents to interact with representatives from various colleges and universities including University of Texas at San Antonio, Alamo Colleges District, Southwest School of Art, Texas A&M University San Antonio, and Texas State University and ask questions about the different programs, certifications, financial aid and more.

Local businesses and military branches were also present to showcase what they have to offer.

As parents and students learned about the many career programs available, they were also entertained with special performances by the Harlandale HS Mariachi Group and Dance Team.

“I’m excited to see the great turnout,” Gil added. “Our main goal is to bring the community together and help our students here at Harlandale ISD succeed in their future.”
