Harlandale High School senior Xavier Enriquez will continue his education and run cross country and track and field at Cincinnati Christian University.

Surrounded by administrators, coaches, teammates and friends, the talented athlete officially signed his letter of intent at the Student Union on June 1.

HHS Principal Alfred Anthony congratulated Xavier and wished him the best of luck in the future.

“This is our 11th signing of the year,” Anthony said. “Xavier, you are fitting into a wonderful class of athletes, but I know Cincinnati Christian is going to be a good one. We are proud of you, and we thank you.”

His HHS Cross Country Coach Barbara Menchaca credits his strong work ethic as one of the keys to his success.

“He is a driven athlete, works really hard and is a real good teammate,” Menchaca said. “He’s overcome a lot, he’s a transfer from another school who had to adjust to new students and a new environment, and he did really well. We’re really proud of him!”

As a bright student and athlete, Xavier also excelled as a basketball player and as the vice president of the astronomy club.

He is happy to move to Cincinnati and is looking forward the next chapter of his life.

“I feel very blessed, and I’m excited to see what the future holds,” he said. “I’m going to major in education and get my minor in kinesiology to be a teacher and help future students.”

Congratulations, Xavier!
