HISD students attend College Night

High school students discovered future opportunities during Harlandale ISD’s College Night on Nov. 1.

The annual after-school event was hosted at McCollum High School this year and featured more than 30 institutions of higher learning.

Students and parents had the opportunity to meet with college recruiters and answer important questions regarding admission requirements, scholarships and financial aid.

McCollum High School Counselor Diana Rangel Duncan said the goal of the district College Night is to get those conversations started as soon as possible to give students a head start when planning for their career.

“We had a great turnout and the students were able to explore different career options,” Rangel Duncan said. “We also have some schools from out-of-state, so it’s important for them to see that they can go anywhere if they really put their minds to it.”
