Harlandale HS baseball athlete signs with St. Mary’s University

Harlandale High School senior Shawn Tober signed his letter of intent to play baseball at St. Mary's University on April 24.

Family, friends, coaches and administrators gathered at the Student Union to share this milestone with Shawn and to congratulate him on his success.

“It’s always special when one of our athletes gets the opportunity to play at the next level,” Harlandale HS Principal Alfred Anthony said. “I can’t say enough good things about Shawn, he is a model student on our campus not only athletically, but academically. We are very proud to have been part of his life for four years.”

Harlandale HS Head Baseball Coach James Forestier also took the opportunity to share special remarks about the talented athlete.

“Shawn has done a phenomenal job for us,” Forestier said. “We made the playoffs his freshman year, we were district champs his sophomore year, we were district champs his junior year and we’ve got two games left to be district champs this year so that says a lot about Shawn contributing to our program, we honestly couldn’t have done it without him.”

For Coach Forestier, there was never a doubt in his mind that Shawn would play at the next level.

“We knew he was smart with his grades and we knew that was going to get him to where he needed to be, but with his athletic ability and his baseball wit, we knew he was going to be able to play a the next level,” Forestier added.

Shawn is excited to pursue his dream of playing collegiate baseball and will be studying physics and mathematics.

Way to go, Shawn!
