Harlandale HS hosts CTE Fair

Harlandale MS and Leal MS eight grade students visited Harlandale HS to get a glimpse into the different Career and Technology Education (CTE) classes offered at their future school.

Featured courses included accounting, animation, career prep, computer maintenance, construction technology, Film School of San Antonio, cosmetology, education and training, Health Professions High School, phlebotomy, human services, law enforcement and medical assistant.

McCollum High School’s auto tech, broadcasting journalism, printing and imaging, web technology and culinary arts programs were also on hand to showcase courses offered to any HISD high school student.

For Harlandale Middle School eight grade student Mallorie Medina, her favorite information tables were about education and training as well law enforcement.

“I really want to become either a teacher or a detective one day, so I feel like these classes will really benefit me,” Mallorie said.

Harlandale High School students visited the fair in the afternoon. Different employers from around the area and representatives from the U.S. armed forces joined in to spread the word about their programs.
