Harlandale HS Theatre presents ‘Tracks’

The Harlandale High School Theatre Arts Department is gearing up for this year’s spring play “Tracks” on May 4-5.

Written by Peter Tarsi, the play centers around 10 strangers who find themselves trapped in a subway station. They have arrived with limited personal belongings, their watches have stopped, and they all claim to be in different cities. Soon they learn the unfortunate truth: they are all dead.

The strangers represent different people from all walks of life, ranging from a nun to a professor to a young high school couple. Together, they reason the train leaving from one platform must be bound for heaven, while the train leaving from the other platform must be bound for hell. But which platform are they on?

HHS Theatre Arts Director Richard Chabrier is excited to bring this play to life with such a strong cast.

“The show is about the human condition, dealing with the not so black and white of being good and being bad. Every single stranger is dealing with something in their past that makes them doubt themselves of whether or not they’re good,” he said.

The drama promises intense emotions on stage with thought-provoking scenes the entire family can relate to.

“This is a play is about having faith and those who’ve lost hope, how to get renewed hope, and how relationships aren’t as simple as they seen in media and movies,” Chabrier added. “There is a big twist in the show that is definitely worth coming to see.”

The students have been working hard over the past several months and are looking forward to opening night.

“The kids are having a lot of fun since this is our last full-length production of the year,” Chabrier said. “We would appreciate having everybody’s support, so we can close this year’s theatre productions with a bang!”

Performances will take place May 4 at 6:30 p.m. and May 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Harlandale HS Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Break a leg, students!
