Harlandale and McCollum High School law enforcement students were victorious in the sixth annual Alamo Area Fire Exploring Competition held at the San Antonio Fire Training Academy on May 12.

The Harlandale ISD group, led by Criminal Investigation Teacher Monica Hunter, competed against other area high schools in four different events.

The students won first and third place in the “Obstacle Course,” first and second place in the “Three Person Relay,” second place in the “Four Person Relay,” first and second place in the “Bunker Gear Drill” and second place in the “Bucket Brigade.”

“To say I am proud of these kids would be the biggest understatement of the year,” Hunter said. “They worked hard all year long, and it all paid off in the end. The pride they felt in themselves and the smiles on their faces made all the long days worth it. We are ready to make next year bigger and better!”

Congratulations, HISD Fire Explorers!
