Harlandale ISD hosts College Night

HISD host College Night 2018

High school students discovered future opportunities during the Harlandale ISD College Night at Harlandale High School on Oct. 24.

Students and their families had the opportunity to learn about the college application process, financial aid and admission requirements. They also explored different college options, scholarships and much more.

Recruiters from more than 60 colleges, military academies and universities were present to share information with students and to help answer their questions.

Some of the representatives in attendance included Harvard University, Howard Payne University, Alamo Colleges, Schreiner University, University of the Incarnate Word, University of Texas, Texas State University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Texas Lutheran University, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, St. Mary’s University and more!

Harlandale High School Head Counselor Denise Flores helped organize the event to give students a one-stop shop, where they could gather advice, tips and information on the many educational options available to them after high school.

“It is important for all grade levels to start researching what is out there, so students can find the best fit for them,” she said. “That is the one thing we stress when we’re working with students. We want them to look for their best fit, not necessarily what they consider the best school, but what is right for them as far as size, majors, costs and overall experience.”
