Communities in Schools partnered with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to host a reading day at Adams Elementary on Nov. 30.

Members of the chamber spent their Friday morning reading to students in first and second grade.

The goal was to get the students exposed to different career options while promoting literacy.

“It’s important for the students to see different professionals and career options aside from what they see every day,” said Monica Hernandez, Communities in Schools site coordinator for Adams Elementary.

After members of the chamber read to the students, they answered any questions the students had about the books and their professions.

This is the seventh year Communities in Schools has partnered with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to host a reading day at Adams Elementary.
