Jewel Wietzel Center students, staff and business partners were celebrated during the 2018 Transition Program Graduation Recognition, HOPS Exit Ceremony and Community Partner Appreciation Luncheon on May 30.

Students who completed the HOPS Program and those who are graduating this year, as well as the students of the year, received an achievement certificate from their teacher in front of their family members, peers, teachers and administrators.

After the student recognitions, representatives from local business partners, including Peter Piper Pizza, Chick-fil-A, Chuck E. Cheese’s, Bealls, Biblioteque, Office Depot and Academy, were recognized with an honorary plaque.

The event also featured several videos highlighting all the work and training the students have accomplished throughout the school year at different HISD campuses. School representatives from Adams, Morrill, Rayburn, Schulze, among others, were also recognized for their support with a plaque.

“I am just so proud and honored to be a part of such a beautiful family here at the Jewel Wietzel Center. I am proud of my teachers and job coaches. They go above and beyond for our students each and every day,” JWC Principal Jennifer Bernal-Tamaren said. “And despite their needs, we have high expectations for our students, and they always rise to meet them, and so today and every day, we celebrate our students and what they’ve accomplished.”

Congratulations, Jewel Wietzel Center!
