Students, parents, teachers and administrators gathered Wednesday evening at Kingsborough Middle School to engage in a number of activities for the school’s annual STEAM Family Night.

The event was organized by KMS Science Teacher Terri Norman to spark students’ interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics.

“I think it is important to bring these kinds of activities to our students,” Norman said. “They are learning that making slime, building rockets or calculating heart rates, which deals with math and science, is actually a lot of fun.”

The night featured a variety of interactive stations such as stop motion animation, rock painting, VEX robotics, rocketry, heart rate math, among others. The McNay Art Museum, San Antonio Public Library, Bibliotech and Girls Inc. were also in attendance to offer different activities.

“The kids love participating because they are having fun while learning,” Norman added. “We hope it gets them interested in STEAM related fields.”

After visiting at least six stations, the students and parents were treated to delicious pizza and cupcakes.

Way to go, Kingsborough Knights!
