Leal MS donates socks to Haven for Hope

When Leal Middle School students learned that socks are among the most needed items at the Haven For Hope homeless shelter, they decided they wanted to help.

Led by student organization IMPACT, the school hosted a sock drive named “Operation Happy Feet” on Dec. 4 – 14 and collected a total of 688 pairs of socks. The club more than doubled their goal of 300 socks.

IMPACT student officers Juliette Hernandez, Pablo Valdez, Ashley Espinoza and Erica Solis worked hard to encourage the entire campus to help donate by sending out morning announcements and placing posters in the hallways.

They feel proud that their goal of collecting 300 pairs was surpassed because that means more people will stay warm this winter.

“The socks were collected in the advisory classes, and I feel glad that students and teachers were kind enough to donate,” Pablo said.

The socks were delivered to the shelter on Dec. 15.

Great job, Leal MS students!
