More than 50 Dual Language students and parents attended Leal Middle School’s Dual Language Night on Dec. 19.

Students participated in an array of interactive activities that included playing loteria with handmade cards, face painting, writing kind notes, making Christmas cards and even “snow.” They also had an activity where students had to identify different parts of the world that are Spanish-speaking.

“The goal of the Dual Language Family Night was to do something special for those who participate in the Dual Language Program,” Harlandale ISD ELL Liaison Monica Rojas said. “Our goal was to celebrate their bilingualism and to really do something special for them.”

As part of the event, attendees also enjoyed delicious chalupas and hot chocolate.

Rojas would like to thank Harlandale ISD Bilingual Coordinator Rosa Palafox-Torres and Leal Middle School Principal Ricardo Salmon for their support. She also extends a big thank you to all of the Dual Language teachers who worked hard to make the event special for the students.

A second Dual Langauge Family Night is scheduled for May.
