Administrators, teachers and staff at McCollum High School and Stonewall Flanders were treated to a delicious barbecue lunch last week, in recognition of their fundraising efforts during this year’s Harlandale Education Foundation Employee Fund Drive.

McCollum High School was recognized for having the highest average donation weighted by the highest campus participation. They raised more than $11,000! Way to go, Cowboys!

Stonewall Flanders Elementary was also acknowledged for having the highest donation increase from last year! Way to go, Falcons!

The tasty barbecue meal included brisket sandwiches, rice, and beans, an assortment of cookies and sweet tea, which was all served by HISD’s Cabinet members and their administrative assistants. Superintendent Rey Madrigal took a moment to congratulate both schools for their support.

“Your contribution makes a difference to the kids in our community,” HISD Superintendent Rey Madrigal said. “I want to thank you so much for your donations.”

Thanks to their contributions and the rest of the Harlandale ISD Family, a total of $65,587.05 was raised. In addition, a private donor matched dollar for dollar raising the total to $131,174.10! – The most ever raised by a HEF Fund Drive!
