Harlandale ISD middle school students competed in an exciting Quiz Bowl at Terrell Well Middle School on Jan. 12.

This was the third match of the year with all four middle schools sending a team. Teams competed in a double-elimination tournament.

Match number six ended in a "sudden death" question round ultimately won by Terrell Wells MS, resulting in a tiebreaker match for first place. Harlandale MS emerged the winner of the tiebreaker.

In first place is Harlandale Middle School's team “We Googled Everything.” The individual high scorer was Magdalena Keller with 115 points. The team's coach is Joanne Donachie.

Terrell Well's Mighty Trojans grabbed second place after a slow start. The individual high scorer was Jessica Valenzuela with 190 points. The team's coach is Anthony Rocco-Frank.

The Knights of Knowledge representing Kingsborough MS were in third place. The individual high scorer was Daniel Guel with 140 points.

At the next and last match-up, one team will be awarded the Team of the Year award, based on total points won, and one student will be awarded the Individual High Scorer of the Year. Next tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at Harlandale Middle School.
