Golf students at Morrill Elementary recently had the opportunity to learn from some of the best golfers in the world during a golf clinic hosted by The First Tee of Greater San Antonio in affiliation with the Valero Texas Open and the PGA Tour.

The young students were able to work with four PGA Tour players on all the different areas of their golf game from the full swing to chipping and putting.

The clinic was the conclusion of the pilot golf program offered at Morrill Elementary by On Par Golf and The First Tee of Greater San Antonio. During the 12-week program, more than 120 fourth and fifth grade students received interactive and engaging lessons on the fundamentals of golf.

The program also gave five lucky students the opportunity to attend the 2019 Valero Texas Open tournament. The students, Matt Garza, Mia Crosby, Rene Olivarez Jr., Clarie Corona and Liliana Garza, were also able to take a photo with the Valero Texas Open Champion Corey Conners!

“There was an overwhelming positive response from what On Par Golf and The First Tee were able to do for the students of Harlandale ISD with this golf initiative,” On Par Golf Owner Ray Garza said. “The fundamentals of golf and life that we were able to share with these amazing students will forever make a difference in their lives.”
