Families enjoyed a night full of learning during Rayburn Elementary School’s Dino-mite Reading Night on March 27.

Parents, teachers and students had fun as they traveled “back in time” to the Jurassic Period to enjoy interactive activities for all ages, including a T-Rex photo opportunity, rock painting and a dinosaur slide.

“Tonight is all about dinosaurs, reading and writing,” Principal Faith Molina said. “Our students researched different dinosaurs, wrote about them and posted their work for their parents to see.”

Molina organized the event to offer students a different experience and get them excited about reading and writing.

“It gives us an opportunity to expose kids to something they haven’t seen before by combining literacy with science, and it’s just a good family event” she said. “We are happy with the turnout.”

After parents admired their children’s various projects, they all made their way to the school’s gymnasium to enjoy fun games, face painting and dinosaur displays.
