The San Antonio Public Library Foundation (SAPLF) Literacy Caravan made two stops in the Harlandale ISD in the past two weeks.

Students from Carroll Bell Elementary and Adams Elementary stepped on board the caravan for fun activities, games, story time and more. The SAPLF caravan serves as a large classroom on wheels, where young readers can explore their creativity and develop motor skills.

Elementary GT Facilitator Sonia Cuellar organized the visit to inspire students to read not only in the classroom, but also at home.

“We need to cultivate and strengthen our students’ minds through literacy,” Cuellar said. “Students do not know what they do not see, so we need to create these opportunities of promoting literacy any chance we have so that our students become familiar with literacy in class, at home and throughout the community.”

At the end of each visit, students also received a free book to take home!
