Schulze wraps up successful robotics season

The Schulze Elementary robotics team brought home a whopping total of 19 trophies this school year.

At the last competition, they won eight trophies and a team of two third grade students competed at the middle school level.

“Originally they had a mentor from Kingsborough MS to compete with, but she had to drop out early in the competition,” Robotics Coach Dolores Madrid explained. “We were assured the third grade girls would be able to compete at their elementary level, but they changed their minds and did not let us know until they were going in to be judged for their journal and robot designed.”

The team, comprised of Leilani Herrera and Jeneska Villarreal, ended up being judged at the middle school level and won two trophies.

“We received a trophy for engineering and a trophy for points we earned,” Leilani said. “We felt so happy that we got middle school points and that we actually earned trophies.”

Way to go, Schulze Robotics!
