Texas A&M University - San Antonio held its Fall 2018 Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday December 18th at the Freeman Coliseum with nearly 1,000 students crossing the stage to be recognized for their accomplishment.

Two graduates who crossed the stage with a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the College of Education were Harlandale ISD teachers who have been transitioning into future administrators in their educational careers.

Edmundo Garza, a math teacher at McCollum HS, has been a secondary mathematics teacher for 12 years and has been with the district at McCollum since 2015.

Jesse Quintero, a science teacher at Kingsborough, has been teaching science for 17 years, a coach for 15 of those years, and all 17 years have been with the district.

Edmundo and Jesse were also able to take part in a "hooding ceremony" on Monday evening in the auditorium of Texas A&M University - San Antonio.

The hooding ceremony was held for Fall 2018 graduates earning a Master's degree from the College of Education and Human Development.  The ceremony was an opportunity for graduate students to be presented their master's hood by one of their professors in the Department of Educator and Leadership Preparation. Students were also given the opportunity to thank individuals who supported them through their graduate studies.

Edmundo was hooded by Dr. Juan Jasso and was able to thank his professors at TAMUSA and the McCollum administrative team for preparing him for the next chapter in his educational career as a future administrator. Edmundo also said a special thank you to his wife, Isabel, and his daughters, Esmeralda and Elena who have supported him every step of the way.

Jesse was hooded by Dr. Lawrence Scott and took time to recognize his professors, the Kingsborough administrative team. Jesse also thanked his wife, Jessica, and his children Nicholas and Emma for their continued support.

Both Edmundo and Jesse look forward to what lies ahead as they transition from classroom teachers to campus administrators.
