Wright Elementary discovered the fun in reading and writing with a spectacular Author’s Day on June 1.

This is the school’s third annual Author’s Day and it serves as a way for the students to share their writings and to hear from guest speakers.

The campus was beautifully decorated with different story book themes in every hall.

As guests entered the campus, they were prompted to choose a story book path. Themes included the Wizard of Oz, The Hungry Caterpillar, Alice in Wonderland, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Giving Tree, among others.

Inside the classrooms, students presented projects they worked on all year long and guests from different professions read to the students.

The goal was for the students to make the connection that reading and writing is important in every career.

Before reading to Ms. Jaclyn Banuelos class, David Vara from Vara Chevrolet shook hands with every student and spoke to them about the importance of dreaming big and working hard. The students were left feeling inspired and excited about their future.

Students also listened intently as police officers, army soldiers and central office staff read some of their favorite books.

Congrats on another great Author’s Day, Wright Elementary!
