Wright Elementary hosts Winter Wonderland STEM Night

Wright Elementary School transformed into a Winter Wonderland during its STEM Family Night on Dec. 14.

Students filled the halls as they explored every station. Teachers dressed up as fun Christmas-themed characters as they showed kids how to create slime and snowstorms out of everyday household items!

The HISD Gifted and Talented Department, San Antonio Public Library and San Antonio Recycling joined in on the STEM Night fun to show kids how to make stop-motion animation with iPADs and educate them on what their facilities do.

Some of the activates were Snowstorm in a bag, Snowman Slime, Estimation Station, Tree Engineering and Laser Quest Science Lab.

Wright Elementary administration greeted students and parents as they walked through the doors with big smiles and open arms.

Wright Elementary Academic Dean Cynthia Perez was amazed at the turnout and loved how involved her staff got with STEM Night.

“STEM Night is a perfect opportunity for families to visit our school and learn that we’re not about worksheets,” Perez said. “Our staff and the GT Department did an incredible job of providing our students and parents with hands-on activities that made for a memorable night.”

Wright Elementary mediators also did an amazing job as they greeted and guided visitors throughout the campus, which made this Winter Wonderland STEM Family Night even more wonder-ful!
