The McCollum High School football team has donated more than 1,000 school supplies for the second year in a row to benefit Harlandale ISD students.

The team and their coach, Matthew Uzzell, dropped off the supplies to Social Worker Wilma Gibson at Carroll Bell Elementary on June 5.

She will be in charge of distributing the supplies to elementary students in need throughout the district. The items include pocket folders, glues, composition books, pencils, crayons, notebooks, scissors and much more.

“We are so impressed with the coaches’ dedication to the district and students who need supplies,” Ms. Gibson said. “We are so appreciative for the players and community for helping and making this happen.”

The supplies were collected during the team’s Spring Green and Gold game, where the team was victorious!

“It really means a lot to be able to give back to the community,” Coach Uzzell said. “We are very excited about this and very thankful to Ms. Gibson for her support. We are happy to help our great kids. The future is definitely bright.”

Way to go, Cowboys!
