Harlandale ISD Welcomes In-House Counselor to Offer Support for Staff

Harlandale ISD is pleased to announce the addition of Corey Lohr as an in-house counselor to offer support for staff. 

Cory is a certified trauma, addiction, OCD and couples therapist. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern New Hampshire University. Cory is currently working on obtaining an additional master’s degree in Divinity at Master’s Seminary. 

"I am excited to join Harlandale ISD and offer staff easier access to counseling,” he said. “I believe that everyone deserves access to mental health care, and I am committed to providing a safe and welcoming space at Harlandale ISD. I look forward to working with individuals to build treatment plans that will help them live their best lives.”

Corey can provide confidential support to employees on a variety of issues, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Emotion regulation
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Couples counseling
  • Mindfulness
  • Acceptance

Corey is also a certified Yoga Instructor and Y12SR (Yoga 12-step substance resistance) instructor. He is certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Gottman Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.

Corey is committed to providing a safe and welcoming space for individuals to be transparent without judgment. He believes the client and counselor are a team, and works with them to build a treatment plan that will be effective.
