TEA Approves Harlandale ISD for Teacher Incentive Allotment Designation

The Harlandale Independent School District is thrilled to announce that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has officially approved its Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations for the 2022-2023 school year. This recognition honors 138 outstanding educators whose dedication and expertise are instrumental in driving student success.

The TIA program acknowledges exemplary teachers based on rigorous criteria, including student growth and classroom observation. The program was established with the goal of providing high-performing  teachers an accessible pathway to a six-figure salary while enabling districts to recruit and retain highly effective teachers on their campuses. Earning a TIA designation not only brings well-deserved recognition to these educators but also generates additional funding for Harlandale ISD to invest in teacher compensation and further support its talented workforce.

"We are incredibly proud of our 138 TIA-designated teachers," said Mr. Gerardo Soto, Superintendent of Schools at Harlandale ISD. "Their commitment to excellence inspires our students and sets a high bar for the entire profession. The TIA program empowers us to reward their dedication and ensure they have the resources they need to continue making a profound impact on our students' lives."

The TEA has an allotment formula that takes three factors into account for funding: teacher designation level, campus socioeconomic level, and campus rural status. Harlandale ISD teachers can earn three possible designations per level of performance:

  1. Recognized ($3,000-$9,000)

  2. Exemplary ($6,000-$18,000)

  3. Master ($12,000-$32,000)

The 138 Harlandale ISD teachers receiving TIA designations represent a diverse range of grade levels and subject areas. Their dedication extends far beyond the classroom, as they actively participate in professional development opportunities, mentor colleagues and contribute to the overall success of the school district.

"Earning a TIA designation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers," said Harlandale ISD Executive Director of Human Resources Dr. Melinda Salinas. "They consistently go above and beyond to create engaging learning environments and foster a love of learning in their students. This recognition is truly well-deserved."

Harlandale ISD is committed to attracting and retaining top talent, and the TIA program plays a vital role in achieving this goal, according to Harlandale ISD TIA/T-TESS Coordinator Erica Castro.

"This isn't just about celebrating our fantastic teachers, it's about investing in the future of our students," said Castro. "By attracting and retaining the best educators, we ensure our students have access to the resources and support they need to thrive."
