TIA

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has once again approved the Harlandale ISD’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations, recognizing high performing educators for their hard work and impact in the classroom. This year, 73 additional teachers across elementary, middle and high school levels have earned a new designation, further highlighting the District’s commitment to excellence in education.

The TIA program rewards high-performing teachers based on student growth and classroom observations, providing them with the opportunity to earn a six-figure salary while helping their school district attract and retain top talent. In addition to recognizing educators, TIA also brings in additional funding that allows Harlandale ISD to continue investing in teacher compensation and support.

"Our teachers go above and beyond every day, not just in the classroom but in the impact they make in the lives of their students," said Superintendent Mr. Gerardo Soto. "Their passion and commitment shape brighter futures, and this designation is a well-earned recognition of their impact."

TIA designations come with financial incentives based on three factors: The teacher’s designation level, the socioeconomic makeup of their campus, and whether the campus is in a rural area. Teachers can receive one of three designation levels:

  • Recognized ($3,000-$9,000)

  • Exemplary ($6,000-$18,000)

  • Master ($12,000-$32,000)

Harlandale ISD’s newly designated teachers represent a wide range of grade levels and subject areas. In addition to their work in the classroom, many of these educators also mentor colleagues, lead professional development and contribute to the District’s ongoing success.

"Earning a TIA designation is a significant accomplishment," said Harlandale Executive Director of Human Resources Dr. Melinda Salinas. "Our teachers pour their hearts into their work every day, and this recognition reflects their dedication and the impact they make on their students."

Harlandale ISD remains focused on recruiting, retaining and rewarding top-tier educators, and TIA plays a key role in that effort, according to TIA/T-TESS Coordinator Erica Castro.

"This is about more than just celebrating great teachers—it’s about making sure they feel valued and supported," said Castro. "By recognizing and rewarding them, we’re strengthening our schools and investing in the success of our students."

With these newly awarded designations, Harlandale ISD now has more than 200 teachers recognized through the TIA program, a milestone that speaks to the passion and impact of the District’s classroom teachers.

Teachers who received a new designation will receive additional details in the coming days. Congratulations to all Harlandale ISD teachers who earned this well-deserved recognition!
