Harlandale ISD has been selected by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to receive $1.52 million through the Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) Cycle 3 Grant. This funding will support key initiatives aimed at enhancing student achievement and strengthening instructional practices across the District.

The LASO Cycle 3 Grant provides targeted support to Texas school districts to accelerate learning, improve educational outcomes and address student needs. Harlandale ISD will receive significant funding to implement programs that promote strong instructional foundations and innovative educational practices.

The awarded funds will support several district initiatives, including:

  • Strong Foundations Implementation: $854,000

  • Instructional Leadership: $186,000

  • Strong Foundations Planning: $180,000

  • Strong Foundations Implementation School Improvement PLC Supports: $300,000

“We are truly grateful to have been awarded this grant as every dollar counts when it comes to improving opportunities for our students and staff,” said Harlandale ISD Superintendent Mr. Gerardo Soto. “Our goal is always to enhance the learning experience and overall well-being of those who walk through our doors, and this funding will help us make a meaningful, positive impact across our District.”

According to Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Melissa Casey, the funding will directly support Harlandale ISD's ongoing efforts to elevate student achievement, empower educators, and strengthen learning environments—helping ensure every student has the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

"This grant allows us to build on the work we're already doing to create dynamic, supportive classrooms where both students and teachers can thrive," Casey said. "It's an investment not just in education, but in the future of our entire Harlandale community."
