Eleanor Hampton, 76, from The Valley, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024. Her life was a testament to dedication, passion, and service to others, particularly in her career in education and coaching.
Eleanor's commitment to her profession spanned over three decades. She spent 20 years coaching at Leal Middle School, followed by 4 years at Harlandale High School and 6 years at Harlandale Middle School. After her coaching career, she continued to shape young minds as a substitute teacher at Harlandale Middle School for 20 more years. Through her work, Coach Hampton instilled a sense of discipline, perseverance, and the demand for excellence in countless students, contributing to the character development of many young people on the Southside of San Antonio.
Outside of her career, Coach Hampton enjoyed traveling in her younger years, having visited both Mexico and Europe. She had a deep love for lighthouses and a special fondness for squirrels, often finding joy in their presence.
Her legacy of love, passion for sports, and demand for excellence will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held on December 17th from 6pm - 7:30pm at Harlandale Middle School in the Girls Gym. We invite all who knew Coach Hampton to join in honoring her memory.
