Mustang Parents! If you are still looking for after school care for your child(ren), the Wesley Center provides after school care from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. They also provide transportation from Gilbert to their building after school, homework assistance, activities and dinner. If you would like to inquire about getting your child registered for this program, please call 210-469-4191. ¡Padres Mustang! Over the past week, Gilbert has had some amazing community partners give to our students and campus! We received a donation of dolls from Linda Pearson and the Scooby Van which were distributed to all Pre-K through 3rd grade students! Some students gave their dolls to their moms and grandmas! We also received a donation of books from Coleman's Corner for two of our new teachers, Mr. Resendis and Ms. G Rodriguez, to add to their classroom libraries. In addition, Coleman's corner will be providing books for our free book library in front of our school on a monthly basis. Lastly, the Texas Retired Teachers Association donated books for students! Our community is supporting our students and encouraging them to read! Thank you to all, Linda Pearson, Coleman's Corner, and the Texas Retired Teachers Association

We are participating in Start with Hello Week from September 23rd to the 27th. During this time, students will engage in various activities and opportunities aimed at fostering a welcoming and inclusive school culture. Mustang Parents- You are invited to a free screening and panel discussion on a documentary called Screenagers. This event will take place on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:00-7:30 pm at the McCollum High School auditorium. The documentary discusses youth mental health in the digital age. Following the movie, a panel discussion will be held to identify strategies and resources that parents can use to help their children navigate mental health challenges.

The Harlandale ISD Grandparent Support Group is for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. The group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Meetings will take place at the Morrill Center located at 5200 South Flores. It's a great place to learn about resources and meet other grandparents. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 18th from 8:30-9:30 am.

Mustang Parents! Harlandale ISD will host it's first Mobile Food Pantry of the school year on Tuesday, September 17th at Harlandale Memorial Stadium. Food distribution will begin at 9 am or as soon as the truck has been unloaded. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and only while supplies last.

Thanks to all of the Mustang Grandparents and family members who came to our Grandparents Day Lunches this week! It was fantastic to see everyone! We hope you all know how important you are to our students' success! Happy Grandparents Day to all!

Mustang Families! Please join us on Wednesday, September 4th from 5:30-7:00 pm for Open House! We will be starting the evening with a presentation in the cafeteria. After the presentation, you will be able to visit your child's classroom, shop the book fair, and pre-order your Gilbert Spirit Shirt! We hope to see everyone there!

In celebration of Grandparent's Day, we are inviting all Grandparents to come have lunch with their grandchild(ren). The schedule for lunches is as follows: Wednesday, September 4th-- Kinder- 10:30-11:00 am, 2nd Grade- 11:15-11:45 am, Thursday, September 5th-- 1st Grade- 10:45-11:15 am, 4th Grade- 12:25-12:55 pm, Friday, September 6th-- 3rd Grade- 11:45- 12:15 pm, 5th Grade- 1:10-1:40 pm. Grandparents may bring outside food in to share with their grandchild(ren). Grandparents will also have an opportunity to take their grandchild(ren) shopping at the Book Fair. All visitors should park in the back parking lot and enter through the back doors by the gym. Please note that Pre-Kinder will not be participating in this event.

Join us for our August Parent Coffee on Friday, August 30th at 8:30 am at Gilbert Elementary! We will be sharing information about upcoming events, discussing the School/Parent Compact, and providing opportunities for questions. Refreshments will be provided and we will have a raffle for HEB gift cards.
