Congratulations to all our 3rd-5th grade students who competed in this year’s Battle of the Books! After reading 20 books from the Texas Bluebonnet list, teams from across Harlandale ISD faced off in a fast-paced trivia showdown. The top three teams—separated by just one point—are heading to the City Wide Battle of the Bluebonnets: Wright Elementary – 67 points Stonewall Flanders Elementary – 68 points Gilbert Elementary – 69 points Thank you to our students, teachers and librarians for making this event possible. That’s a wrap on our 2025 Cultural Arts Fair & Parade! We want to thank every single one of you who attended, participated and helped bring this amazing Harlandale ISD tradition to life once more. From the incredible parade, to the performances, super fun games and delicious food, this event once again brought our community together to celebrate the Mosaic of Cultures that can only be found right here. Congratulations to Yazmin Padierna and Mia Perez from Adams Elementary for their outstanding achievements in the 2025 Texas Cavaliers River Parade Art Contest! As a Finalist, Yazmin’s incredible artwork is now featured on VIA buses and in the Texas Cavaliers’ River Parade Program! She and Mia will also receive scholarships and funding for their school’s art program. Additionally, Yazmin and other finalists were honored at a special ceremony at the San Antonio Museum of Art, where King Antonio and the Texas Cavaliers recognized her creativity and talent! At last night’s Board of Trustees meeting, members experienced the power of ViewSonic Interactive Display Screens firsthand! Teachers from elementary and middle school shared how these high-accuracy touchscreen displays make lessons more engaging and interactive—far surpassing traditional projectors. The demo wrapped up with a high school student showcasing the benefits at that level, proving these smart screens are a game-changer for all grade levels! #HarlandaleLegacy

This week, our JWC Makerspace held their Spring Elementary E-Sports In-District Tournament which always brings excitement and friendly competition with it! Students from seven of our elementary schools are brought together to battle it out in popular games like Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Switch Bowling, and Tennis! This tournament gives students the chance to showcase their skills while developing teamwork, communication, and problem-solving--key 21st-century skills that will benefit them in school and beyond. Events like this also can also open doors to STEM careers, changing the trajectory of our students' futures. A huge Thank You to everyone who helped organize this incredible event and to all the students who participated! The energy and excitement were truly unforgettable. The JWC Makerspace continues to be a fantastic space for innovation and hands-on learning in Harlandale ISD! Let’s hear it for our amazing young gamers! #HarlandaleLegacy
