This week is National School Social Work Week! As such we’re shining a spotlight on some of the incredible social workers who make a difference every day here at Harlandale ISD – starting with Ms. Jennifer Montes!
Ms. Montes is no stranger to our community! A former Adams Elementary student herself, she decided to come back to her roots and has now been serving Harlandale ISD students and families for 22 years, with most of her time spent at Adams Elementary and has now been at Gilbert Elementary for the past 5 years.
A true advocate for students, Ms. Montes brings joy to campus every day, empowering students to be their very best. Her passion for helping others runs deep – so much so that she’s now serving the children of former students, making a lasting impact across generations!
Fun Fact: If you ever want to chat about the Spurs, Ms. Montes is the ultimate fan – even her dog, Manu Puppovich, knows all about the game!
Please join us in thanking Ms. Montes for her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the Harlandale community. We are so lucky to have her as part of our district family!

Last night, the extremely talented students at Bellaire Elementary put on a wonderful celebration in honor of Black History Month, showcasing their talents and sharing the rich history of African American leaders and trailblazers.
The event featured student-led presentations on influential historical figures, a moving performance by the school choir, a beautiful ballet solo, a captivating One Act Play, and an inspiring excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech, delivered by a proud 2nd grader! The celebration even included a special performance by the student mariachi band, making it a truly unique and memorable event.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the students for their hard work and dedication, as well as to the parents for their support during rehearsals. Your efforts made this celebration meaningful and special for everyone.
All of us in the entire Harlandale District couldn't be prouder!

Join us in congratulating Elia Rios, a 3rd grade student from Adams Elementary, for winning 1st place in the Harlandale District Science Fair!
With the guidance of her science teacher, Ms. Lopez, Elia put popular laundry detergents, TIDE and HEB's Hill Country Faire, to the test!
Her experiment not only revealed that the HCF brand leaves your laundry cleaner, but it is also more cost effective!
Way to go Elia! We are so proud of your curiosity, hard work, and scientific discovery!

The clock is ticking!
Our 2025 Cultural Arts Fair Cover Design Contest is still open, but the deadline is quickly approaching! This year's theme, "Mosaic of Cultures | Mosaico de Culturas," was inspired by 1st grade student Bradley Gonzales. Whether it’s a construction paper mosaic, painted tiles, or even photography, encourage your child to get creative and submit their artwork.
Don't miss the chance for your child's design to be featured on this year's Cultural Arts program cover!
